Its a coachbuilt “overcab” on the five-tonne rated Al-Ko chassis with a Fiat Ducato cab. It has a twin bed, end-washroom layout with air-con and diesel powered heating. The Omnistor awning is recessed for appearance & a single key operates the external lockers. The “caravan” door has a double lock & full-length internal flyscreen along with an electric step plus an alarm that sounds if the van is driven away with the step extended. Fiats 3.0-litre MultiJet develops 295 lb/ft at just 1700rpm and utilises this to ensure that ten years on this is still one of the best-driving motorhomes. The seating behind the driver, in the lounge area, can be used as a double-dinette or the forward seat base can be manoeuvred to create an L-shaped settee. Both of the cab seats swivel to face the lounge area, too. In the living area there’s the Webasto heating system, it’s fuelled directly from the base vehicles diesel engine and the system also provides the hot water – theres even an anti-freeze setting which ensures the boiler wont ice up if the motorhome is packed away for the winter. Complementing this superb heating system is the optional ceiling-mounted air-con unit. The kitchen in the 900 comes fully equipped and theres plenty of storage space plus a decent amount of worksurface. The Spinflo Caprice cooker has three gas hobs and an electric hotplate. The sink has a good-sized draining area and a glass cover, which adds to the large expanse of worksurface to the right of the cooker. On the opposite side of the kitchen is a 150-litre Dometic tower fridge/freezer and a Daewoo microwave behind the tambour door. You comfortably sleeps six in this motorhome – the twin-single-bed layout works well and come with sprung-interior mattresses. The single beds measure 1.81 x 0.70m, the occupants will be able to watch TV from their beds and have access to the heating controls, too. The overcab bed boasts an ambient strip of LED lighting and a small bedside cabinet. Occupants shouldn’t feel too claustrophobic thanks to the two opening windows either end of the bed. Making up the lounge double bed involves a few extra filler cushions as well as dropping in a piece of board. The washroom in the 900 is luxurious and comes complete with a separate shower cubicle. Once you have used this once you’ll never make the hike to the campsite facilities again! A Thetford swivel-bowl toilet sits at the opposite end of the washroom to the shower, while the washbasin is set in a central vanity unit. With nearly a whole tonne of payload to play with there is never an issue with the amount of storage space! Internally there is a large wardrobe space with an additional three drawers, accompanied by a floor-to-ceiling shelved locker. The main bedroom area has a generous mix of “his-and-hers” double overhead lockers and shelving. Theres a similar arrangement in the lounge area as well as space in the seat and bed bases.
