Mercedes Sprinter 2.1 litre 2006 Campervan Hey, we’re hoping someone else can have an awesome adventure in this van too. We’ve designed it to be a stealth van, the only giveaway being the roof vents and porthole on the side. We’ve parked up everywhere from council estates, industrial estates to some of the most picturesque places in the UK and had no bother from anyone. As we’re heading back to NZ, we will also throw in al the extras, so dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, oven trays, bin and anything else you want that we can’t fit in our suitcases! We’ve taken her up and down the country without a hitch. You’ve got all the comforts you want in here without going crazy. 5kw diesel heater which even on its lowest setting can sometimes be too warm right now. It runs reasonably quietly both inside and out. Uses approx 0.1 litres of diesel per hour! 3 x ring hob and a grill. There is an oven which we can include unfitted with the van but we preferred it without (extra space). But made a little shorter. Comes out to a double bed that comfortably sleeps 2 and is a large, comfy chair by day. Wardrobe – Fits about 10 items. LED lighting – Simple but effective plumbing system with 10 litre tank. The tank is under the sink so can be increased easily if you wish. Toilet with 10 litre tank. 6kg propane gas bottle in gas cupboard made to specs with 2 x vents in the floor. Pipework is copper and it’s a proper caravan regulator. 2 x 110ah Halfords EFB batteries. More than enough to power everything, we’ve never come close to running out of power. 1500w inverter – Gas sniffer, 12v , wired in. Tested by spraying propane on it, works perfectly. German designed and manufactured. Carbon monoxide and fire alarm. Lots of overhead storage over the cab and above the kitchen/bed. Lots of extra storage spaces fitted where possible. 3x spare 240v plugs. Powers a laptop quite happily. Steering wheel lock. 2 x skylights (no leaks, installed properly with mastic tape). One skylight has slight damage from where I forgot how tall the van was. It still works however. The other is a large extractor fan, both 400×400. 2 x USB ports. We have built the inside of the van ourselves and although this is our first van conversion, we have renovated many houses so it’s done simply but well. It’s registered as a panel van as the DVLA are quite difficult to work with right now. However, we have it insured with Brentacre for just 370 pounds per year, who don’t mind as long as we list the modifications. Within the last 6 months we’ve had a few mechanical works done to it which means it purrs beautifully. These are the common sprinter black death cured. 4 x new injectors, 4 x new seals, new rocker cover, new injector bolt threads manufactured, all new glow plugs. The engine has basically been professionally taken apart, anything that needed replacing got replaced. The gearbox runs really well as does everything else. The only issues with it are – Sometimes when you turn on the air con, it squeaks. Turning it off and back on in a minute or so fixes this. There is an’EDC’ light. We’ve had this checked out, changed the usual culprits (glow plugs, injector seals) and we’ve been told its definitely one of two things. It’s the brake sensors on or the vehicle speed sensor. Neither of which will be catastrophic or indeed have much effect in the long or short term, hence why we haven’t bothered to replace them. Once you take it for a drive, you’ll see the same, no difference in day to day driving. Turns on first time every time, even at this time of year. It’s 3.5 tonnes and can be driven on a car license. We’re open to discussion. Feel free to ask anything I might have forgotten to put! The item “Mercedes Sprinter MWB Stealth Campervan” is in sale since Saturday, December 28, 2019.
