1996 mazda bongo/ FORD FREDA 4×4(all working) 2.5 TURBO ENGINE. Absolutely cracking van with thousands spent and more kit than you can ever want. Mileage showing 255000km which is about 159000 miles. This engine will run longer than any modern engine! It is a 1996 model but from the looks of the V5 it was imported in 2004. Bought the van in june 2018 was a little bit naïve and bought with no paperwork or history so everything ive got is what ive had done and there is a lot, its had thousands spent on it. History of the work ive done.. I had the timing belt replaced when I bought the van 3 years ago at 232000km. It had a full service at 233333km all filters and all the drive belts changed. It probably due a service again in all honesty, not a big job. All 4 glow plugs replaced at 235958km. Every coolant hose has been replaced including the two steel water pipes and all jubilee clips. Radiator flushed at 237800km. Brand new cylinder head, head gaskit kit, 3 way bleed elbow, all genuine parts from Bongo spares. Also Reconditioned alternator from bongo spares fitted. Both new front tyres 240490km. Major welding both sizes inner sills and all around the rear end june 2019 at 240733km. Both rear new tyres 243091km. Front brake pads and alternator replaced 250000km. Diesel pump seals replaced 252000km. Major welding and ball joint 253401km may 2021. As you can see, everything that is a common issue on these vans has been done so youve got good piece of mind. MOT UNTIL 12th June 2022. Good tyres all around. Full size spare under the van. Comes with the rare sought after rear ladder and front bull bar with working spot lights (switch on dash). 150watt solar panel fitted on the roof with leisure battery under the bonnet. The solar controller has USB sockets on for off grid charging. Also electric hookup connection on the side of the van with built in battery charger and a small consumer unit behind the drivers seat and a double USB socket. Fully kitted out inside as you can see full side conversion. Rock and roll bed. Fridge (can run on 12v or gas) (dont use the gas side i have always used it on 12v). Sink with water pump and on board water tank. Pop up electric roof and mattress up there too. Diesel heater fitted with 5l tank under bonnet. Which has had about 10 hours use at the very most. Plenty of storage cupboards. Cushions all match throughout the van. The rear view mirror has been replaced with a mirror with built in sat nav / Bluetooth hands free / dash cam and rear view camera which comes on automatically when the van is put into reverse. Very expensive mirror this was. CD player with AUX. 4x Electric blinds throughout the rear each with individual switches. Also nice handmade curtains on rear window and seperating front/back. Tow bar with brand new electric socket. 4×4 all fully working. It had a ball joint for the last mot when the welding was done. Very sought after colour there are not many this colour on the road in fact i have never seen another in person but seen a few on various bongo forums. You will not find another one of these vans with as much kit I have probably missed some off the list, it has everything that you need just jump in and go. I will give you a 907 gas bottle to get you going with some gas left in. The van is 25 years old so don’t expect anything brand new however it is in very good condition in my opinion there are a few bits that want some tlc which have never bothered me I will be honest. Pop up roof struggles on its own again probably the gas struts i just hold the button with one hand and give it a nudge with the other. The blower fan only works on number 4 and last week it started making a noise every now and then so maybe it needs a new fan not sure, again never bothered me really. There is a patch on the inside of the boot at the bottom which the rust has got to, I’m just being honest it’s on the inside not visible externally. I may fill it if I get time. Again a very good looking van nice to drive fully loaded with every extra you can think of and piece of mind that the cooling system is up to scratch (we just did 1000 miles around Cornwall in the 30 degree heat and it never missed a beat). We have been all over in this van, Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, East coast, we just want to upgrade to something bigger now but it is a shame to see the van go. Very fun van to own. I have lots of history of me owning it and the work I’ve done but nothing before that. It drives great, looks great, camp’s great. A real head turner. Easy to manoeuvre and park.
